The Annual National Bull Sale at Rockhampton attracted a large panel of buyers from all parts of Queensland and NSW, however the extreme drought conditions in north west Queensland and the Northern Territory reduced the number of bulk buyers which was reflected in the clearance rate of 86%, compared with 93% last year. However the quality of the bulls on offer commanded the attention of the buyers present and generated an excellent average price of $6349 for the 489 bulls sold. This average was up by about $400 on last year.
Minlacowie Lexington, offered by the Spann family topped the sale at $100,000 and was purchased by Brian Hooper and family for their Imbil Stud in south east Queensland. Top price on Day 2 was $67,500 paid by Bill Zahnleiter (Angle Z Stud) for Rondel Kenzie which was offered by the Carrington family from Winton.
